CWL Elementary Science Center Trip

On Wednesday, May 9th the K-6 grade from CWL will be going to the Science Center in Des Moines. This is possible due to a grant from the ISEA which is paying for our admission. Here is some following information about the trip. We need all NON BUS KIDS to arrive at school that day at 7:45 a.m. so they can get their breakfast and be ready to go when the buses pull in. BUS KIDS will get off their bus in the morning and get breakfast and go to the bathroom if needed and get back on the bus. WE NEED TO LEAVE SCHOOL AT 8:00 AM. We will be stopping at a rest stop by Ames and there they will change into their school t-shirts. EVERYBODY will be required to have theirs on and visable when we are at the Center. We want to be able to Identify our kids/adults when we need to. We are bringing sack lunches from the school and will eat lunch in a room provided by the Center. At this time we are planning on leaving Des Moines around 2:00 p.m. That should hopefully put us home around 4:30 p.m. Busses will be dropping kids off in Corwith (at grocery store), Lu Verne (at school) and Wesley (at Town Mart). Parents will receive a JMC message when we are in Eagle Grove so you know when to expect us. A permission slip is being sent home. Please sign and return the form back to school by next Tuesday, May 8th. Thank you!

K,1,2, Field Trip to Dairy Farm

On Friday May 4th, 2018, the Kindergarten through Second grade classes will be going on a field trip to Humboldt. This is our annual Dairy Days field trip. Usually we go to a farm and see the milking process, but this year, we will be going to the Humboldt Fair Grounds. The weather looks like it will be nice, but we do ask that your child still wears long pants, and closed toed shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty and muddy. We will primarily be outside and it has rained so the ground will probably be muddy. Please have your child wear a sweatshirt since the mornings are still cold. When they get warm, they can tie it around their waists. We will be leaving around 8:30 A.M. and return to school around 2:00 P.M. The children will be putting their green shirts on to wear while we are gone. Please let me know if you have any further questions!
Thank you,
Mrs. Krieps and Mrs. Curry

School Closings and Delays Information

Attention Parents:

If we have a 2 hour late start –

  1. NO Breakfast will be served at school
  2. Buses may run late (please watch for them and have your children properly dressed for the weather)
  3. Doors of the school will be open for elementary students at 9:50 a.m.
  4. Students will go to the GYM (instead of the lunchroom where they normally go in the morning) until 10:10 a.m. and then they will be dismissed to go to their classrooms.  (Lu Verne town students please arrive at the school ready to go to class by 10:10 a.m.)  We would like everyone going to their classrooms at 10:10 so by the time the kids get settled they can start teaching as soon as they possibly can, however they will not be counted absent or tardy until after 10:20 a.m.

Two hour early out (1:30 dismissal) – If we have a 2 hour early dismissal we will NOT have Preschool.  We will try and make those decisions as early as possible and a JMC notification will be sent out.

If we do not have school the office will be closed.

Any delays or postponements of school will be posted on KCCI, WHO, KLGA, CWL Facebook Page,

Lu Verne Website which is www.luverne.k12.ia.us and a JMC notification will be sent out to parents.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact the school office at 515-882-3357 or you can email Mr. Hueser at jhueser@cwl-csd.org
